Art & Design
Millais has one of the most successful Art & Design departments in West Sussex, achieving outstanding GCSE results. It is a very popular subject with pupils of all abilities at both Key Stage 3 and 4.
Pupils enjoy a wide range of experiences and opportunities including the chance to work first-hand from a diverse and stimulating array of artefacts, to visit galleries and museums, and to participate in residential trips. There are also a number of events throughout the year which enable pupils to explore materials, techniques, and situations not available in their normal lessons.
Art & Design have excellent accommodation and stimulating resources, such as a large collection of multi-cultural artefacts. Pupils follow a varied programme throughout their time at Millais, and projects encompass an imaginative array of artists and themes.
The Summer Art exhibition is the highlight of the year where Year 11 Artists’ work is displayed for the school and the general public.
A high proportion of Millais pupils go on to enjoy continued success in Art at A Level and beyond. Past pupils are employed throughout the Creative Arts industries in roles such as Gallery Curators, Fashion, Graphics and Theatre Designers and Sculptors.
